BEIJING … Power management company Eaton hosted a forum on Sustainable Development with the theme “Making a Difference to the City” on June 8 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Beijing, which included the release of its 2016 China Sustainability Report. It is the eighth consecutive year for Eaton China to release such a report, which describes the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices and contributions in areas affecting the economy, our customers, the environment, our employees and our communities.
“Eaton is not only a global leader in advanced technology and products, but we also take seriously our role in approaching global sustainable development challenges,” said Howard Liu, Eaton China President, “Sustainable development is at the core of Eaton’s business and values. Since entering the Chinese market in 1993, we have been actively responding to China's national development strategies, including New Urbanization and China Manufacturing 2025, to help our customers effectively manage electrical, hydraulic and mechanical power more efficiently, safely and sustainably.
“We are delighted to see that power has made a significant contribution to China's economic development and social progress, and we look forward to continuing to work with our stakeholders to continue to make a difference for our future,” Liu added.
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development published by the United Nations aims to address the social, economic and environmental dimensions of sustainable development from 2015 to 2030 through the joint efforts of all countries around the world with the goals of eradicating poverty, protecting the planet and ensuring that all human beings can enjoy prosperous and fulfilling lives. As a developing country with rapid economic development and a large population, China can’t ignore environmental issues, which have played a crucial role in the implementation of the 2030 plan.
Eaton’s China 2016 Sustainability Report shows not only the progress that Eaton has made in its sustainability efforts over the past year, but also reflects the company's confidence and determination to support China's sustainable development.
